Know the fee before we start

The fee follows what sets the price, not the size of the job. Pick the closest description and your fixed fee is confirmed at the scope check, once we have seen the documents.

Rate-driven

$750 to $1,500

Fixed fee, excluding GST

One discipline with production rates we already hold, such as wet services or a cart, haul and place grader package. Where a job sits in the range depends on the number of disciplines and the complexity of the work: a smaller subdivision sits towards the lower end, and work within a road corridor or around live services towards the top.

Questions we get asked

Will this replace our estimating team?

No. Most clients use us when their team is at capacity, when they want a second price before submitting, or when a job sits outside their usual scope.

What if I don't have a BOQ?

Send the drawings and specifications. At the scope check we quote the take-off as an extra, so you decide before paying anything.

Do I get a single price or a range?

Every line is priced. Where the documents leave something open, we state the assumption and how far the price could move.

Are my documents kept confidential?

Yes. Your documents and rates are never shared with another client or published. We keep anonymised pricing data, with nothing that identifies you or your project, to keep our rates current, as set out in our terms.

Do I need to send my rates with the enquiry?

No. Send the documents and we check the scope first. If your price should be built on your own plant, labour and supply rates, we ask for them with the fee proposal, along with anything else that shapes your number, such as crews, subcontract prices and supply agreements. If you would rather we price on current market rates, we do that instead.

How do you make the estimate specific to us?

Your estimate is built on your inputs, not a generic price. We use your plant, labour and supply rates, your crews and production, how you would stage and resource the work, and the on-costs and margin you want carried. If more than one contractor asks us to price the same tender, each gets an estimate built on their own inputs, priced separately, and no one sees another contractor's rates, assumptions or price.

How quickly will I hear back?

Within one business day of upload you get a fixed fee and a delivery date. Delivery depends on the band: two to three business days for rate-driven work, three to five for build-up driven.

Why is my job a different fee to someone else's?

Because the fee follows what sets the price, not the size of the job. One discipline with production rates we already hold prices quickly. Several disciplines and the interfaces between them take a full build-up. And where staging, live roads, ground conditions, access or working hours decide the production rate, the method has to be settled before anything can be priced at all.

What happens on a job with traffic staging or work on a live road?

It starts with a $650 scoping workshop rather than a straight fee. On that work the method decides the rate, so we settle the method with you first and hand back a method statement and a firm fee for the estimate. Proceed and the $650 comes off the estimate fee in full. It is not a consultation we charge you for and then charge again.

Do you write construction methodologies?

On request, and quoted separately from the estimate. A methodology is written from your drawings and the specification, so the sequencing, staging and traffic approach follow what the site will physically allow.

Can you turn it around faster?

Yes, when we have capacity. Express turnaround is 2 business days at 1.5 times the fee. Tell us your tender close date and we'll confirm what's possible with your fee.

Who reviews the work?

Every estimate is reviewed by a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), with Traffic Management Design (TMD) capability.
